Carilion Clinic is seeking to fill a Director of Occupational Health. This position will support Carilion’s hallmarks of service excellence and quality for all job responsibilities.  Will be responsible for management, development, and implementation of occupational medicine services for Carilion Clinic service areas. Provides consultation to affiliates of Carilion Clinic in determining resources, options for services, and regulatory compliance issues. Develops and maintains client relationships while supporting the achievement of Carilion’s business objectives, values, mission, goals, objectives, and standards of the organization. Establishes service line goals, objectives and strategies to provide cost-effective, reliable services to clients.  Ensures that services are provided in strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines.

Education: Registered Nurse, or Bachelor’s degree in public health education, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years nursing experience. Three years minimum management experience. Experience working in industrial setting preferred.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: State of Virginia registered nursing (RN) license required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to work independently, without direct supervision. Customer-focused philosophy of service delivery; ability/willingness to work as an integral member of a multi-skilled team. Demonstrates leadership qualities at current level of practice. Strong problem-solving and positive interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Some travel involved. Experience in working with OSHA guidelines and Va. Workers’ Compensation required. Position requires substantial walking and standing in performance of duties. Utilizes specialized equipment as needed. Has potential for exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases. Federal Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT), respirator fit testing, OSHA Hearing Conservation and Federal Drug Test Collection certifications are not required; however, must be knowledgeable of those requirements for remaining department staff. Must have excellent PC skills in MS Word, and Excel, or must be obtained.
