Welcome to the NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network, where convenience meets quality in the realm of occupational medicine. In this blog post, we will delve into the exciting partnership between NAOHP (National Association of Occupational Health Providers) and UberDoc, a digital healthcare company. We will explore the benefits and opportunities that this collaboration brings to healthcare providers and service members alike.
Introducing UberDoc:
UberDoc is a revolutionary digital healthcare company that connects patients with physicians for direct pay consultations. With thousands of participating physicians across more than 50 specialties, UberDoc offers a simple and efficient alternative to traditional healthcare systems. Patients can schedule appointments with ease, bypassing the need for insurance or referrals, and receive prompt medical care.
The Need for Quicker Access to Medical Appointments:
One of the primary motivations behind the NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network is to address the growing need for quicker access to medical appointments for employers and government organizations. Many patients face challenges in scheduling appointments and receiving timely medical care. By partnering with UberDoc, NAOHP aims to bridge this gap and provide a seamless solution for all parties involved.
The Military Fit for Duty Exams Program:
The NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network is currently focusing on military fit for duty exams as part of the Reserve Health Readiness Program (RHRP). The program requires contracted providers to perform one-time readiness exams for service members on reserve. These exams are crucial in assessing the overall readiness of service members and ensuring their ability to perform their duties effectively.
Exam Types and Requirements:
There are over 27 different types of exams within the program, ranging from brief 10-minute reviews of health history to more comprehensive 30-minute examinations. The exact exam type will be communicated to providers during the scheduling process. Each exam typically includes elements such as vital signs, respiratory rate, audiograms, vision screens, labs, and possibly rectal or pelvic examinations based on the specific requirements.
Scheduling and Payment Process:
Providers in the NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network have the flexibility to choose their weekly block availability for scheduling exams. You can even opt to offer exams on weekends if that suits your practice. Billing and payment are facilitated through NAOHP and UberDoc. Providers will be reimbursed each month for the exams conducted during that period. Lab work can be performed in-office or sent out to LabCorp, with the billing handled directly by NAOHP’s partners.
Credentialing and Onboarding Process:
To join the NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network, providers are required to complete a credentialing process. This involves submitting various forms, including a provider application form, NDA, photo ID, professional license, CV, malpractice attestation page, CPR/BLS certificate, and a supervising physician form if applicable. The onboarding process typically takes about two weeks, ensuring providers can start conducting exams swiftly.
Volume and Opportunities:
The NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network presents providers with significant volume opportunities. The program currently has a backlog of approximately 30,000 exams, providing a substantial influx of patients. States such as Texas, California, Florida, and Virginia have a high projected need for exams, with estimated annual volumes ranging from 7,000 to 12,000 exams per state. This presents an excellent opportunity for providers to contribute to the program and expand their practice.
Malpractice Coverage and Liability:
Providers are responsible for their own malpractice coverage, and it is essential to ensure adequate coverage is in place. While malpractice issues are generally minimal given the nature of the exams, it is still crucial to have adequate protection. In certain circumstances, the NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network may offer malpractice coverage, subject to specific eligibility criteria and requirements.
The NAOHP Uberdoc Provider Network is transforming the field of occupational medicine by providing a direct and efficient platform for service members and providers alike. By partnering with UberDoc, NAOHP has created a solution that offers convenience, accessibility, and exceptional healthcare services to individuals requiring military fit for duty exams. This innovative collaboration opens the door to new volume opportunities for providers and ensures service members receive the vital care they need promptly.

How do I get paid?
Providers/offices will be paid by UBERDOC, the service member will not be responsible for any payments during the exam. Depending on the exam type, visits will range from $40-480 per exam. A full fee schedule will be provided during the credentialing process. UBERDOC will pay out providers/offices directly for exams monthly. No billing will be necessary on the office’s part.
How are we documenting?
The service member will be provided a medical history form for them to fill out and bring to the exam. We hope this will assist in the evaluation process. However, we do require you to review, clarify, and complete the form(s) as appropriate. Documentation will be done digitally using the MEP system.
